The Project Haven
Our Work
We connect underserved communities to vital resources through direct outreach. Our efforts include installing smoke alarms and providing fire safety education with the Red Cross, promoting healthy food access in partnership with Root Causes, and delivering tailored resource packets door-to-door to help residents access healthcare, housing, and other essential support.
NC 211 Collaboration
Resource Navigation
NC 211 provides communities across all 100 counties in North Carolina to verified resources for basic needs, such as housing and utility assistance, food, healthcare, transportation, and more. Powered by United Way, anyone in North Carolina can make a free and confidential call to 2-1-1 (or 888-892-1162). A trained Community Resource Specialist will listen, identify needs, and connect callers to local resources that fit their situation.

Project Haven is proud to announce a partnership with NC 211 to provide community outreach efforts. Through reaching out to churches, food banks, schools, shelters, our vision is to identify communities and underrepresented populations to provide access to resources by referring them to NC 211.

Duke Mobile Home Park
Fire Alarm Installation
A nationally conducted CPSC survey estimated 20% of households with alarms had none that worked, and a more recent National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) survey found that while 94% of homes have alarms, more than a third of them are inoperable due to dead batteries. Two-thirds of fire deaths occur in homes without smoke alarms or with non-working ones.
As a result, Project Haven partnered with the Red Cross and Eno Fire Department to install over 30 smoke detectors in 50+ homes, these communities were identified by the Fire Department as having high rates of house fire incidents as a result of having no or outdated fire alarms.
Community Resource Packet Distribution
An ongoing initiative delivering door-to-door resource packets in local neighborhoods, connecting residents with information on health services, safety programs, and essential community support.
